Welcome to my website which is an introduction to my work with a little information about my art and includes galleries of my paintings and some of my textile work. If there are any pieces you are interested in please do not hesitate to contact me.
I am a painter and textile artist with a passion for colour particularly using vibrant primary colours in both my paintings and my embroidery. Throughout my career as an artist I have always had a foot in both worlds of textiles and embroidery and painting in various media. After teaching City and Guilds embroidery for a number of years I went back to college and took a degree at Camberwell College of art in painting and art history.
I am based in the southern home counties in the UK and have exhibited large abstract pieces at Battersea Affordable Art Show, but am happiest painting flowers and still life using Caren D'Ache's amazing neocolour oil pastels. For some years I was a demonstrator for the company and spent many happy hours whizzing round the M25 getting lost, long in the days before the advent of Sat Nav.
My embroideries are heavily influenced by foreign embroidery, especially Indian art and some little prints I have of processions of elephants. I have an old Bernina sewing machine which fulfils all my needs, the most important thing being a darning foot and a retractable feed dog. Most important of all is a rich and lively rag bag with gorgeous scraps of fabric and Indian rayon machine embroidery threads.
